So, I guess you’re here because, like the rest of us, you’re trying to navigate this crazy thing called life, right? Well, if you’re looking for guidance on making sense of it all, the Bible is the place to go.

One of the things that commonly comes up in the Bible is simplicity and contentment. It’s all about finding that sweet spot where you’re genuinely happy and satisfied with what you have. No need to keep up with the Joneses or chase after shiny things!

If you’re curious about where you stand on your journey toward contentment, here are few verses to let you know what the Bible has to say about living simple:

Matthew 6:19-21

“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.

Ecclesiastes 5:10

Those who love money will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth brings true happiness!

Luke 12:15

Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”

1 Timothy 6:6-7

Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it.

Proverbs 30:8-9

First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God’s holy name.

Matthew 6:25

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?

Psalm 37:16-17

It is better to be godly and have little than to be evil and rich. For the strength of the wicked will be shattered, but the Lord takes care of the godly.

Philippians 4:11-12

Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.

Proverbs 15:16

Better to have little, with fear for the Lord, than to have great treasure and inner turmoil.

Hebrews 13:5

Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,

“I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
